Panglima Sugala fest in Tawi-Tawi

MANILA, Philippines - On the heels of the success of Kamahardikaan Festival, Tawi-Tawi will be the center of activities on Dec. 15 to 20 as the 50th foundation of Panglima Sugala, dubbed as the grandest golden celebration

that highlights this municipality’s multi-cultural heritage reels off.

Mayor Nurbert Sahali and his staff prepared for the event for a year.

This year’s theme is “Look back, leap upward, sustain the gains and gear up toward eco-tourism and environmental development.”

Among the activities are the opening parade where 17 barangays and line agencies will participate. Another event is the opening of the agro-fishery trade fair and the seaweeds techno forum on Dec. 16. Participants will showcase their products such as crabs, seaweeds, sea mantis, roe of sea urchin, abalone and cassava.

Entrepreneurs will set up business booths in the area. There will be Mutya ng Panglima Sugala and cultural and traditional contests called Awwal Jaman, which will be performed by different schools.

There will be a contest for gourmands. Other activities are banca race, basketball, volleyball and basketball games.
