PanglimaTahil, Sulu (5 January) -- A day after the visit of PGMA to inaugurate the Jolo Airport Runway and Water System last December, Sulu Gov. AbduSakur M. Tan, Task Force Comet Chief Brig. Gen Rustico Guerrero, Maj. Malone, Commander of the American forces in the region, Mayor Nedra Burahan of Panglima Tahil Municipality and Jolo Mayor Hussin Amin, all went to Panglima Tahil municipality to inspect and inaugurate the newly constructed Area Coordination Center (ACC) in the area.This is a start of a series of coordination centers constructed for each municipality in the province. Each ACC consist of one (1) School Classroom, a multipurpose center and a open hall for community meetings.
In his message, Maj. Malone emphasized that the main purpose of their effort is to provide opportunities to the children of Sulu. He reiterated their commitment to assists the efforts of the LGUs for progress and development in Sulu.
He also thanked Gov. Tan for supporting the partnership between the US Forces and the Provincial Government of which these projects is made possible.
"The people of Panglima Tahil appreciate the support of the US government," said Mayor Burahan. "Communities in the municipality will now have a venue to communicate and a facility to converge efforts in achieving peace in Panglima Tahil."
She also took the opportunity to thank Gov. Tan not only for his support for this project, but also in working for the inclusion of Panglima Tahil in other assistance and development projects, one of which is the pantawid pampamilya or 4Ps of the DSWD, helping Sulu’s less fortunate brothers and sisters in the area.
TF Comet Chief Brig. Gen. Guerrero points to the fact that the ACC is one of the highlight of their civil military operations along with the water system and the Jolo Airport. He acknowledges the support of the Honorable Gov. Tan for making the ACC a part of Governance in Sulu.
PGMA acknowledges the effort of the AFP and the LGUs, Tan said during the ceremony.
"Our efforts are now geared towards peace. We must give great importance to our children’s education. This is the best way to ensure a better future and a better life for our next generation. This is what the ACC is all about, working together through a system of coordination and improving the way services are provided to our people."
The ACC is the brainchild of Gov. Tan, a nerve center to facilitate better between agencies and service providers. In the coming days other ACC facilities will be inaugurated and turned–over to LGUs, specifically in Pata, Pandami and Lugus municipalities. (Sulu-PIO/PIA9-BST) [top]
