The company began drilling the Banduria-1 well in January this year, according to Tap Oil, the operator of adjoining Block SC41.
Banduria-1 is the second well that ExxonMobil has drilled in Block SC56 following on from December 2009's Dabakan–1 discovery, which hit reservoir sands and hydrocarbons, although full results have not been released.
The exploration Dabakan–1 was drilled to a total depth of 5000 metres by the semi-submersible West Aquarius, which made it the deepest well ever sunk off the Philippines.
Partners in Block SC56 are operator ExxonMobil on 50%, Mitra Energy with 25% and BHP Billiton holding 25%.
