ZAMBOANGA, Philippines - Bikers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) and civilians joined the Bike for HOPE--honest, orderly and peaceful elections--held last Sunday here in Zamboanga City.

Major General Horacio Lapinid, commander of the 3rd Air Division, led the activity.

He said Bike for HOPE is an advocacy of the AFP to inform civilians that the military is a non-partisan organization.

Lapinid said the military’s battle cry now is AFP for Credible Election or ACE.

He said this is one way to prove to Filipinos that they are for the people and the Constitution, and not for a particular individual.

The bikers traveled from Edwin Andrews Airbase to some barangays in the west coast, and then moved around the city proper.

Lapinid is planning to do two more "Bike for HOPE" within the month of April and a week before the May 10 election. For these two, they will focus on promoting their advocacy in the east coast of Zamboanga City.

Lapinid hopes there will be more bikers who will join them in their next activities.

Civilian bikers and bikers' groups can also be part of their advocacy for honest, orderly and peaceful elections, he said.
