JOLO, Sulu – Marine Brig. Gen Rustico Guerrero, commander of military forces in Sulu, largely credited the cooperation of the public and the different sectors to the peaceful elections.
“The credit goes to the different sectors and the public. There was a strong cooperation from all sectors and the people of Sulu for peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections,” Guerrero said.
“The peace covenant signed by the local politicians and their cooperation led to the peaceful elections in Sulu," said Senior Superintendent Joseph Ramac, commander of a special police task force which covered the provinces of Sulu, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi during the polls.
Meanwhile, performance and good governance may have been the two major factors that the people of Tawi-Tawi and Sulu have considered that led to the retention of Tawi-Tawi Gov. Sadikul Sahali and Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan.
Political analysts in the region explained that the people of the two provinces under the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) are now considering “accomplishment, performance and good governance” during the voting.
The analysts, who most of them are lawyers and political science professors in various universities in Zamboanga Peninsula also foresee a better and abrighter tomorrow for the people of the two provinces in the coming days.
